Southend Rugby Club are delighted to announce that Chris Vaughan has agreed a new contract extension ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Vaughan, who has represented the Saxons for over ten years now, is one of the most valuable, consistent high performers within the senior squad. He represented the Saxons in National 1 and has since been a senior figurehead amongst the Saxons, starting 18 games last season. His resilient work in defence and destructive ball carrying has made him a real crowd favourite over a number of years now.
Director of Rugby, Josh Ward said “Vaughany going again is fantastic news for the club. People joke about how many years he can keep playing, but that is testament to the quality performances he demonstrates week in, week out. He’s a superbly balanced runner going forwards, has a great attitude and has a massively positive impact on the group. He puts his body on the line for our club and that is why he is held in such high regard”.
